Join us for our monthly #ODTalk sessions, where we explore the possibilities of organisation development with top thinkers from across the world.
On 17 November we are joined by Ben Fourie, in conversation with Christo van Staden, to explore the development of large business transformation projects. Ben is a highly experienced project and business executive, having served amongst others as Programme Director for BAT’s global GBP1.2 billion business transformation, single instance SAP implementation, and Target Operating Model deployment project across more than 120 countries.
Projects typically run over (cost and time), and this has an enormous impact on the delivery of project benefits. What makes projects slow, and how can they be accelerated while ensuring the safe delivery of project benefits? The large business transformation project is per definition counter-cultural – it sets out to change the culture of the client organisation – and as such needs to be developed within a complex project ecology. What is the place of project management methodologies (PMBoK, Prince, Agile, etc.), and why are they important, but not sufficient? How can experience, and the use of heuristics, augment the project methodologies? What work needs to be done in developing the project organisation, and the relationships across the project ecology, to ensure project eco-system integration?
Join us to explore these and more questions towards a project organisation development approach with clear business benefits: a faster and safer project, that consistently deliver benefits to the organisation.
